The Importance Of Strategic Social Media Posts To Your Business’ Online Profile And SEO

If you have a young business (20 years or younger), creating a robust online and social media profile that is strategically relevant probably has been part of your language since the beginning of your business.

There are lots of reasons to use social media with businesses: shows Google you are an expert in your field, boosts SEO, creates engagement, create sales, etc. Social media for businesses is also a great conversation starter or even just get everyone talking…remember the “Hire Brad’s Wife” social media campaign in 2017 – what restaurant business didn’t get in the action?! Or just google “hilarious social media posts business” and prepare to waste the next hour down that worm hole laughing.

Seriously, if you are a prolific author and your website continuously features new, relevant {to your industry} content to post, then great job! If you are building up your customer base or your business is sales-driven with product, then social media content may be easy to create. However not all businesses are created equal and not all business function on quantity of sales. Likewise, some businesses may want to create a robust social media profile however not necessarily feature the industry (ie: attorneys who represent heinous crimes against children) for safety fears. What to do?

This is a topic I’ve been contemplating a lot lately. I want to post strategic and relevant content but don’t want to bore people. I love my clients and have time in my schedule for a few more however there is a thing called sleep that I really enjoy too so I don’t want to spend every spare minute writing. I’ve spent the last month talking to people about this topic and informally polling people. I’ve come to the following conclusion:

I’m going to post the information I like and relate to regardless of whether it is strategic or relevant to my business. How’s that for sassy!?!

After all, my business’ brand is helping you develop your business’ and its brand. And if you hire me, that means you and I will be working together developing your brand…your business…your life’s work – and if you and I don’t see the world similarly or {and this is a BIG thing} RESPECT one another enough to listen to one another – and maybe even disagree – we won’t get very far.

So let’s have a conversation about strategic methods to build your business, grow your engagement, and increase your customer base, but let’s be real and recognize not every conversation will be on point.

Sometimes it is good to have a genuine conversation with diverse people who bring new ideas and perspectives into our lives. And sometimes it is good to see a post from a business that makes us laugh, or give pause, or stop and reflect.
